While attempting to save a young woman from drowning, the hero of Young Merlin is pulled into a magical realm under siege by the malevolent Shadow King. Naturally, it falls to you to rescue this world and the woman, who has been captured by the Shadow King. You accomplish this in classic action-adventure style: battling foes with spells acquired throughout the game, solving puzzles, and utilizing various items. What makes Young Merlin unique is its complete lack of text—conversations are represented by icons—and its use of passwords, rather than a battery backup, to track your progress.
