The DOS version of "Ghostbusters II," inspired by the film of the same title.
The Ghostbusters return in this follow-up set after the events of the second film in the series. Five years have passed since the Ghostbusters took down the giant marshmallow terror looming over Manhattan. In the aftermath, the Ghostbusters sent the city a massive invoice, only to receive an even larger one in return for property damage. Both sides ended up bankrupt, and the Ghostbusters have since retired from the ghost-catching business. Unbeknownst to them, a growing river of slime has been accumulating beneath the city, feeding off the negativity of New Yorkers. At the same time, a new presence has taken hold in the Museum of Art—a 300-year-old portrait of Vigo the Carpathian, housing an immortal soul, is waiting for the perfect moment to break free, using the slime as its gateway. The game begins in the middle of a courtroom trial, where escaped ghosts are causing chaos. A battle erupts, and the player must try to eliminate a flying ghost in a side-scrolling sequence, while avoiding ectoplasmic attacks. Whether the player succeeds or fails in this fight and in future ghost battles, the outcome will be highlighted in a post-battle newspaper editorial. Following the courtroom clash, the main game begins in the Ghostbusters' office. From here, the player can select from a variety of tasks, including responding to ghost sightings to earn income, collecting slime from the sewers, testing the collected slime (if any was gathered), and reviewing the duty roster.
