JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is a fighting game crafted by Capcom, inspired by the popular Japanese manga of the same name by Hirohiko Araki. The game was developed by the team behind the Street Fighter III series. It first launched in arcades in 1998 on the CPS-3 arcade platform; internationally, it was known as JoJo's Venture. A revised edition titled JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Heritage for the Future (ジョジョの奇妙な冒険 未来への遺産 JoJo no Kimyō na Bōken Mirai e no Isan?), came out in 1999 and marked the sixth and final title for the CPS-3 system. That same year, it was also ported to the PlayStation and Dreamcast. A high-definition version arrived on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade in August 2012. The game blends Capcom's signature anime-style visuals, reminiscent of the Darkstalkers franchise, with the vibrant characters and events from Araki's universe, creating a rich and stylized aesthetic. It also incorporates gameplay elements from earlier Capcom fighters, such as power meters for special moves, and introduces a new Stand Mode, where each character is accompanied by a guardian spirit that can be summoned or retracted by the player, altering the character's moveset and abilities. Manga creator Hirohiko Araki acted as a consultant for the game and contributed exclusive artwork for its marketing and packaging. Most notably, he designed an original character model for Midler, as Capcom wanted to include her in the game and she had only been briefly depicted in the original manga.
