Route-16 Turbo is an enhanced edition of Route-16 for the Famicom, released in Japan on October 4, 1985 by Sunsoft. This version features added difficulty settings along with upgraded visuals and soundtrack. In Route-16 Turbo, players take control of a car and navigate the roads in search of valuable items scattered along the way, all while dodging chase cars that aim to collide with the player's vehicle. The game presents a map from a top-down perspective, displaying the 16 distinct routes (maze-like rooms) that the player can explore. This map highlights the locations of collectible items. Each item gathered contributes to the player's score, and collecting all items in a level allows progression to the next stage. Upon entering a specific route, the view shifts to a single-screen maze filled with dead ends, twists, multiple exits, and enemy obstacles, along with the risk of being pursued by the chase cars. The player's car is equipped with a turbo function that provides a speed boost, though it consumes more fuel than regular driving. If the car runs out of fuel, the player loses a life. Any leftover fuel after completing a level adds to the player's total score. The game offers three difficulty settings: easy, normal, and hard.
