Summary
Street Fighter EX2 in its original form keeps all the elements introduced in its predecessor, Street Fighter EX Plus, such as the signature mechanics "Guard Breaks" (exclusive techniques that opponents cannot block) and "Super Canceling" (which lets players transition one Super Combo into another). The main addition to the game is "Excel Combos," with "excel" standing for "extra cancel." Similar to the "Custom Combos" found in the Street Fighter Alpha series, Excel Combos let players link together a sequence of basic and special moves for a short duration. In an Excel Combo, players start with a basic move and can follow it with another basic move or a special move, which can then be succeeded by a different special move. However, players cannot chain the same move twice, nor can they cancel a special move into a basic move during an Excel Combo.
