Mega Man 9: Proto Man Mode

Summary

This mode allows players to take control of Proto Man, known as Blues in Japan, who wields the "Proto Buster," can slide, and uses his "Proto Shield" for protection. However, Proto Man is more vulnerable, taking double the damage, experiencing increased recoil, and firing projectiles that are slightly lower, enabling him to hit enemies Mega Man typically misses while on the ground. Additionally, he is unable to enter Dr. Light's Lab to buy items. This version of the game does not include a story.
