Plutonia 2 is a 32-level megawad for *The Plutonia Experiment*, serving as an unofficial follow-up. Having been in the works since 2000, it finally launched on December 31, 2008. At the 2009 Cacowards, it was named one of the winners and also deservedly earned the Mordeth award.
The WAD is set in the aftermath of The Plutonia Experiment. The Quantum Accelerator's failure to close the Gates of Hell and prevent a second invasion triggered an inquiry that revealed the UAC's unethical exploitation of gateway technology, resulting in the imprisonment of its remaining executives. The company's assets were then seized and handed over to the Union Aerospace Armed Forces (UAAF), a newly established defense force created to safeguard our reality from Hell. To achieve this, the UAAF engineered a more advanced version of the Quantum Accelerator known as the Hallion Collider. The media, ever skeptical, nicknamed it "Plutonia 2" in reference to the earlier catastrophe. Initially things seemed to be under control, but the UAAF soon faced accusations from various colonies of overstepping its authority, leading to destabilization through guerrilla tactics and political maneuvering. Doom's protagonist was among the UAAF's founding leaders, but was compelled to step down after being accused of using excessive force during his oversight of a former UAC colony. However, since he had never been fond of his previous role, he used his newfound freedom to attempt to resolve the growing tensions within the UAAF, proposing "Operation Kick-ass" when the situation spiraled into chaos. At the same time, a study was released showing that repeated use of UAC Berserk packs, Medikits, and Stimpacks could lead to psychosis and paranoia in individuals experiencing severe trauma. His adversaries seized on this to tarnish his image and isolate him from the political sphere. As a result, internal conflict intensified. One day, reports emerged of Hellspawn once again invading Earth, with UAAF factions turning on each other with accusations of sabotage, espionage, or even blaming the UAAF itself. The conflict has now erupted into full-scale war, pitting human against human, human against demon, and demon against demon. Refusing to stand by as Hell ravages our world, the protagonist, armed only with his pistol, locates a teleporter to the Amazonian jungle and confronts Hell alone.
