Hello Kitty no Hanabatake is a kids' platformer created by Character Soft, a game publishing division of Sanrio, for the Nintendo Family Computer. It was launched in Japan on December 11, 1992, and is not available elsewhere. Throughout the game, Hello Kitty must water all the flowers in each level while dodging various animals and bugs. Her ribbon remains attached to the left side of her ear, no matter which way the character is facing. Kitty can protect herself using a big mallet. Hitting enemies makes her cry, which triggers her anger and results in losing a life. Points in the game are collected as cash for the register. Letting the time run out also leads to losing a life. However, the game offers unlimited continues, and the only consequence of a "game over" is losing your current score. The game consists of 18 levels, and it does not cycle back after the 18th. While the second half is tougher than the first nine stages, players can complete them once they get used to the controls.
In the game, players take control of Hello Kitty as she makes her way through each level, watering all the flowers. She must dodge animals and insects that stand in her path, but she can use her big mallet to defend herself. Collecting coins for the cash register helps boost the player's score. Hitting enemies or letting the time run out will cost the player a life. If all lives are lost, the game ends and the score is reset, but there are unlimited continues, so this is the only consequence.
